Dr. David E. Sartin

Email

My wife and I recently slipped away to New Orleans for a weekend wedding. It was our first trip back since Katrina. We took a drive to the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Campus and we were surprised at the reconstruction that had taken place there. The area around the seminary campus was demolished by the storm. What remained was gutted buildings and concrete slabs. It looked strange. It reminded me how quickly things can change.

As we made our way back to our motel, we heard more news of the horrible earthquake in Chile and that parts of Hawaii were closed because of predictions of a Tsunami. Once again I was reminded of how quickly things can change and how we don't know what tomorrow may bring.

Folks, we may not know about tomorrow, but we know who holds tomorrow. Jesus has promised us a future in heaven for sure if we but accept Him as Lord and Savior of our life. As I sat at the wedding reception Sunday afternoon, I realized that the majority of the people there were born again Christians. When I look around my community here, I can't say that.

What will it take for us to see the urgency of making sure that our neighbors know about Jesus? We don't know what the future holds but we know who holds our future and we need to let those around us know.

I challenge you to let others around you know about Jesus. Invite them to come and join us for Bible study and worship. You never know when your invitation may be what God uses to touch a person's life and lead them to come to know Him.

Buildings can be restored but people can't. Don't be guilty of not sharing Jesus. You may be the only chance your neighbor has to hear about Jesus.

I look forward to seeing you in God's house this Sunday. I am thankful for Harrisville Baptist Church and I am proud to be your pastor.
